It’s always a slow and steady march when it comes to disrupting education. This year we saw evidence of a number of compelling trends. First, the move towards credentialing and certifications is being taken seriously as preparation for both entry and ongoing jobs as well as a retooling of a workforce. Credly, Coursera, EdX, Viridis, Open4Learning and others showed how organizations are leveraging verified digital credentials to recognize, communicate and track achievement. Capella shared details on their unique partnership with CareerBuilder and how tech and education can increase employment. Second, the move is now towards incorporating new visualization technologies into education. Both augmented and virtual realities from companies including VDO360 and Daqri let us imagine a more immersive educational journey. AI, the maker movement, robots, apps — the discussions were wide-ranging and not to be missed. Google Education’s Jaime Casap showed us the future of cloud computing in education and the benefits it can deliver. The educational market continues to garner approximately $2.5 billion in investments each year. Don’t miss this opportunity to see where the industry is headed.
