This pair of lifestyle-based conferences had an excess of connected riches. Kicking off the conference was a look at emerging technologies for kids: Augmented reality, robots, and enough coding toys to create the next Bill Gates. The new Lego Boost made its debut on our stage.

David Pogue entertained with an irreverent Internet of Things monologue. Randi Zuckerberg revealed the secret sauce behind her new TV series Dot. We learned how to hack parenting from tech experts including Seagate and Pearl Auto. It’s clear that family life will be changed forever based on the new IoT devices demonstrated by Comcast and Samsung.

On January 6, we held the 2017 KAPi Awards, an honor our team of judges gives to the best products in kids’ media. One of the most touching moments was the special posthumous award honoring Dr. Seymour Papert, author of Mindstorms, creator of LOGO and Scratch programming languages. His daughter Artemis and son-in-law Brian Silverman braved the trip to accept the award on his behalf.
