An App-le a Day for a Queasy Medical Problem

Someday, I expect that doctors will dispense apps the same way they dispense medicines. Apps already help monitor health conditions, keep you in good physical shape, and can give you tools to control the onset of  something like cyclic vomiting syndrome.

What’s cyclic vomiting syndrome, you may wonder?  According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (part of the National Institutes of Health), ”Cyclic vomiting syndrome, sometimes referred to as CVS, is an increasingly recognized disorder with sudden, repeated attacks — also called episodes — of severe nausea, vomiting, and physical exhaustion that occur with no apparent cause. The episodes can last from a few hours to several days. Episodes can be so severe that a person has to stay in bed for days, unable to go to school or work.” The condition is often first diagnosed in childhood. Researchers suspect CVS is the result of gastrointestinal issues, hormone imbalances, nervous system problems, and/or genetics.

I Got the Solid State Blues

Solid state drives are all the range, taking the place of traditional mechanical hard drives in laptops, the have become standard in mobile devices and they’ve even been seen in traditional desktop PCs.  And for good reason.  Solid state drives, unlike traditional drives with a magnetic spinning platter and a head, have no moving parts.  That means there is nothing mechanical to wear out.  Additional benefits?  They are faster which makes your computer seem faster, especially when booting.  What’s there not to like?
